Darold H. Parken, President, CEO, Director
Mr. Parken received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Calgary in 1977 and his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Calgary in 1980. From 1980 to 1990, Mr. Parken practiced corporate securities law with a major Canadian law firm of which he was a partner. He has public company management experience and a wide range of experience in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Parken is one of the founders of Chartwell.
Darcy Krogh, Vice President, Business Development, Director
Mr. Krogh joined Chartwell's Board of Directors and management team in June, 1999. His responsibilities include strategic planning, corporate finance, expanding operations, mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Krogh has experience in sales and marketing, corporate finance and business development, with a good understanding of the public capital markets due to an extensive background in the securities industry. Mr. Krogh was a stock broker for 18 years with several Canadian investment dealers. Mr. Krogh is one of the founders of Chartwell.
Mr. Acorn received his Honours diploma in Internet Object Oriented Software Engineering from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He has an extensive background in Internet and e-commerce development and design. Mr. Acorn has management experience in the Information Technology industry, specializing in Web development and owning and operating his own Web development company from 1995 to 1999. His responsibilities in the Company include the management of software, graphics and Web strategies.
Mr. Ferguson has been a partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP since October of 2004. Prior to this, Mr. Ferguson was a partner at Heenan Blaikie, Barristers & Solicitors and previously to that a partner of Burnet Duckworth & Palmer. Mr. Ferguson specializes in corporate and securities law.
Terry Shaunessy is President and Founder of Shaunessy Investment Counsel, a Calgary based money manager, specializing in quantitatively derived domestic and international investment portfolios for institutions, corporations and ultra high net worth families. Prior to founding his own firm, Terry gained extensive capital markets experience in his roles as President of Gordon Capital, Director of Equity Research, Merrill Lynch Canada, Executive Vice President, Institutions HSBC Asset Management (Canada) and Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager, Gryphon Investment Counsel.
Mr. Kinash spent the past 15 years working and volunteering in the Alberta technology sector. Mr. Kinash is CFO, part time, of Replicon Inc., the world leader in web based time tracking solutions for project oriented organizations.
Mr. Kinash corporate career includes serving for 20 months as CFO of Wi-LAN Inc. During Mr. Kinash's time at Wi-LAN the company made four acquisitions and raised $60million in three equity financings.
Prior to joining Wi-LAN, Mr. Kinash led the Calgary technology practice of KPMG, assisting a wide range of technology companies with issues related to strategy, alliance partners, financing, people, securities and tax in Canada and the US. Mr. Kinash's technology clients were involved in over $3 billion of equity, merger and debt transactions in the late 1990's.
Mr. Kinash is a Chartered Accountant and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1977 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Aideen Shortt joined the company in 2004 as Commercial Director and has played a key
role in the sales and marketing functions during her time with the company, before being appointed to her current role as VP of Sales and Marketing in 2007. Ms. Shortt is a graduate of University College Cork (Ireland), with a Masters Degree in Marketing from Kingston University (England), and has a wide range of experience working both operator and supplier side in the gambling industry.
The Chartwell sales and marketing team is under the direction of Ms. Shortt. She is responsible for expanding our base of brand clients, pushing new products into the market, forging relationships in new territories, and leveraging our unique position as a true technology partner in the deployment of a wide range of unique gaming products and platforms.
Mr. Richter joined the Company in January of 2007 as Controller and became the CFO in May, 2007. Prior to joining the Company, he was the VP Finance of a private company that developed and published games for mobile devices. Prior to this, he held several senior financial management positions in the software industry in Ottawa. Mr. Richter has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and is a Chartered Accountant.
Lee Richardson, Chief executive Officer of Chartwell Games (International) Ltd.
Mr. Richardson holds a MBA from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has been a Chartered Marketeer since 1999.
Mr. Richardson has considerable experience in betting and gaming with his first industry appointment in the newly created role of Marketing Director of the British Horseracing Board. In 1998 he became managing director of Tote Direct where he successfully developed and launched Scoop 6, the first new TV bet in 25 years. As MD of Totalbet.com he launched the first ever system to take UK Tote bets over the internet. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Coral Eurobet in 2000 where he was responsible for the profitable development of the group's online sports betting and gaming operations.
Steve Williams, Vice President, Product Management
Steve joined the Chartwell team in February 2009. He brings extensive industry experience from roles such as Senior Director of Product Management and Market Development at Spielo/GTECH where he provided direction on the company’s gaming products including games, hardware and systems.
Steve has worked with lotteries and casinos around the world in order to provide them with industry leading products. His background also includes working with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s advertising agency on brands such as Instant Bingo, Instant Keno and SuperStar Bingo.
His academic background includes a B.B.A. in Marketing and B.P.E. in Sports Administration, both from the University of New Brunswick.
Clinton Begin, Vice President - Software Development
Clinton Begin has built a presence in both the enterprise and open source communities. Having consulted as a Senior Developer and Agile Mentor for industry greats such as ThoughtWorks, Microsoft and Stanford University, his experiences have spanned a broad range of business and technical domains. Clinton has applied agile methodologies, open source software, Java, .NET and Ruby to the development of large-scale applications. He is an experienced author, speaker, and has delivered formal presentations and training from San Francisco to New York City.
